SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

What is Sustainable Tourism?

Sustainable tourism is a form of travel that gives full consideration to the natural environment, the lives of local people and the culture rooted in there. It aims to maintain the natural environment and solve local problems by travelling in an environmentally friendly way.
Fukuoka City is working to contribute to the SDGs, a common global goal. In order to respond to people's needs and the social environment that has been transformed by the pandemic, the city promotes sustainable tourism, a new style of travel, to improve what the city has to offer.
In order to promote sustainable tourism, it is important to have sustainable initiatives, enjoyment in travelling and consideration for the environment, and we will create opportunities for local people at tourist destinations and visitors to think about sustainability through travel, with the aim of creating a sustainable society.
