Contactless Pay to be Available on All Our Subway Services

Fukuoka City and the Fukuoka Directive Council (FDC) invite applications from all over Japan for verification test projects that lead to solutions to social issues, etc., using advanced technologies such as AI and IoT. Excellent projects are carried out as the ‘Fukuoka City Support Project for Verification Test’.

Since 31 May 2022, the ‘credit card touch payment verification test at railway station’ has been implemented at a total of seven stations on the Kuko Line and Hakozaki Line of Fukuoka City Subway. In response to many requests to expand the number of stations available to the service, the experiment will be expanded to all 36 stations on the three lines in conjunction with the opening of the Nanakuma Line extension. This will be the first time in Japan for the subway to introduce touch-sensitive payment at all stations.
