Renovated Fukuoka Art Museum reopened after more than 2 years of closed period on March 21, 2019, offering more comfortable, easily enjoyable space.
A new entrance was made on the west side of the museum, to which you can enter directly from Ohori Park, having a regard for Maekawa Kunio’s architectural design, who was a great master of modern Japanese architectural world. The spacious entrance enables a good view of the museum from Ohori Park.
A café has been made at the newly built park side entrance, in where a relaxing moment and light meals can be enjoyed viewing at Ohori Park. The café on the 1st floor is open until 7pm, and the restaurant on the 2nd floor is open until 8:30pm (last order at 7:30pm).
In the Kids Space, the playable wall painting was set up, as well as a nursing room that enables a more comfortable space.
Traditional art crafts represent Hakata such as “Takatori ware” and “Hakata Doll”, and the original goods of Fukuoka Art Museum made by local creators and writers are sold at the museum shop.
The exhibition room has been expanded, and high-permeable display cases have been adopted and LED lightings that color tone can be changed have been installed. The wall and floor have also been renovated enabling the highest standard exhibition environment in Japan.
The special exhibition will be held (March 21 – May 26) in commemoration of the reopening after renovation, as well as lots of other events.
