Creating your original lantern at a long-established lantern shop & Ninja dress-up experience
- Nakasu-Kawabata Area
Highlights of the tour
During this experience, you will visit a lantern shop which has been in business for over 100 years, located in the atmospheric Kawabata shopping arcade in the heart of Hakata, and try your hand at painting your own design on a lantern to bring it back home with you as an unique souvenir! Then, strolling through the shopping arcade, you will head to the close-by Canal City Tourist Lounge. There, you have the chance to dress up in awesome Ninja attire, which is rounded off by items like Shuriken or a Japanese sword. The staff will take a polaroid picture of you in this cool outfit.
When painting the lantern, you can draw Japanese characters or illustrations to your liking. Additionally, you can wear a traditional Japanese straight-sleeved coat (the traditional attire of workmen) during the experience and have your picture taken.
*If you want to write your name in Japanese characters, please tell us your name and pronunciation in advance.
*Since the painted lantern has to be hung outside to dry, you will have to wait for a short while.
