It is said that the original lord of Fukuoka Domain, Kuroda Kanbei named the land where he built the castle “Fukuoka” after his ancestors’ land, Bizen-Fukuoka (Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture).
Kanbei wished for the prosperity of Fukuoka, and the 400-year-old history of Fukuoka Castle together with his thoughts will be expressed through the light-up of the castle ruins and full-bloomed cherry blossoms in this lovely spring season.
The lighting ceremony will be held on the first day of the Sakura Festival.
