Hakatan Walk! Spring is wonderful in Hakata! With walking events and sidewalk cafes to enjoy! ( 2012.04.16)

The Hakata area may have an image of being an office area. But, the area is rich with historical shrines, temples, memorials, world famous art and buildings. Come and see the special side of Hakata on the Hakatan Walk!

In March and April, the weather is perfect to get out and about and experience the city. There will be sidewalk cafes about town to enjoy!

Come and see the new Hakata Station and enjoy the surrounding area too!

Why not try walk around and collect the stamps located in the Hakata area!
If you collect stamps from places like Canal City Hakata, Kushida Shrine or Sumiyoshi Shrine you can get a badge!

2012 Fukuhaku Flower Spring Walk
Enjoy a guided tour of the approx. 100,000 tulips and cherry blossoms in the city parks and by the roads.
Dates: Saturday, April 7th, 2012 and Sunday, April 8th, 2012
Tulip Course (Hakata Station to Kego Park)
Cherry Blossom Course (Kego Park to Fukuoka Castle Ruins)
Tulip and Cherry Blossom Course (Hakata Station to Fukuoka Castle Ruins)

Fee: 500yen per person. This includes tea, sakura-mochi rice cake and insurance.
Booking Required. Bookings can be made up to April 3rd, 2012.

Charity Event: Miyuki Hatakeyama’s Acoustic Night in Joten Temple
Miyuki Hatakeyama is from Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture, an area which was heavily affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake in March, 2011. Her concert will be held at Joten Temple.
This temple grounds will be lit up and make a wonderful backdrop for the beautiful voice of Miyuki Hatakeyama.

Date: Saturday, April 14th. Gate opens at 5pm, concert begins at 6pm
Fee: 2500 yen per person.

Visionary Café Sweets, a Sidewalk Café only open for two days in front of Hakata Station!
Open: 10am to 7pm only on Saturday, April 28th and Sunday, April 29th
Location: In front of the Sompo Japan Fukuoka Building on Hakata Ekimae-dori Ave.
