Kyushu National Museum’s Special Exhibition: HIRAYAMA Ikuo - Great Traveler and Patron for the Past

An introduction to Mr. Hirayama Ikuo, a recipient of the Japanese Order of Cultural Merit.
Over a 40 year period, Mr. Hirayama Ikuo has made 150 trips to Eurasia for research.
He was an atomic bomb survivor at 15, and has pushed for peace through the preservation of Cultural Assets. He received the Japanese Order of Cultural Merit.
In this exhibition, not only will his paintings be displayed, but his sketches, rough drawings and other works. His mostly-unknown work on preserving cultural assets of many areas will also be shown.
